On a cold and rainy day in Paris Patty Schnyder defeated Slovakia’s Jarmila Gajdosova 6-4 6-2 and advanced to the third round at the French Open.
In a match which started late on the day due to several rain stops, Patty only in the beginning of the match had some problems. The Slovakian broke Patty in the opening game and was leading 2-0 when she had breakchances again. But the Swiss could save them and after that Patty found to her game. She could reduce the count of her errors and the match turned completely. Now the Swiss won 11 games in a row and after 1 hour 5 minutes Patty came to a well-deserved win. In the third round Patty will face Yulia Vakulenko from the Ukraine. The number 135 ranked Vakulenko in the previous rounds beat China’s Meng Yuan and Sweden’s Sofia Arvidsson. Patty met Vakulenko twice before and won both matches. |
