The set was decided in tiebreak and the Russian was already leading 4-0 when Patty fought back. The Swiss hit some great winners and finally she won the tiebreak 10-8.In the second set Patty was clear dominating and after 1 hour 22 minutes the Swiss was through to the next round. There Patty will meet the US star Venus williams. The 25-year-old former world number one, who plays her second clay tournament this year, beat the Czech players Ondraskova and Safarova in the previous rounds. Currently Venus Williams seems to be in good form. The Swiss lost all six previous matches against Venus, but in her last match against the American Patty was close to the win. In the Stanford final in 2005 the Swiss failed five matchpoints against Venus. The tomorrow’s match will be the first on a clay-court between them. |
