Patty played the first grandslam of the year seeded #8, but fell in the 4th round to the young Russian Opponet Anna Chakvetadze.

In the 1st round Patty played #496 ranked Madison Brengle of the United States. Patty never played Madison before but played well and defeated the 1st round opponent in straight sets 6-3 6-4 in 1 hour and 18 minutes.

In the 2nd round Patty played the talented Shuai Peng of China. Peng is another first time opponent for Patty. Patty defeated Peng confortable in straight sets 7-5 6-3 in 1 hour and 17 minutes.

In the 3rd round Patty has defeated home favourite Alicia Molik in three sets 3-6 6-2 6-0 in 1 hour and 25 minutes to advance to the 4th round for the 5th straight year.

In the 4th round, Patty lost to #12 seed Anna Chakvetadze of Russia in straight sets 4-6 1-6.

Patty also played doubles paired with Italy’s Francesca Schiavone. Patty and Francesca lost 6-3 2-6 3-6 to top seeds Lisa Raymond and Samantha Stosur in the third round.

Patty’s next tournament will be Paris beginning on 5th February.
